Albert “Saint” Ste. Marie
Obituary
STE. MARIE, Albert…..
Peacefully with his family by his side at Parkwood Hospital, London on Monday, July 13, 2015, Albert “Saint” Ste. Marie in his 94th year. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elaine, his first wife, Mabel, his sisters Marcelle Thorp and Renee Reid, along with his 6 children, Greg (Nathalie), Leslie (Louise), Penny (Mac), Jeff (Patsy), Armand and Manon (Marc), 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was raised in Saskatoon and enlisted with the Canadian Navy on September 6, 1939 and spent 2 years on convoy duty on the North Atlantic, then served the balance of the war at Naval Headquarters in Ottawa. His 50 year business career was in the printing, lithography and silkscreen industry, where he owned two businesses and held senior positions working in London, Toronto, Montreal and Bologna, Italy. His favorite pastimes were boating, trap shooting, photography, travelling and golf, yet he cherished the time with his family the most. The family wishes to thank the staff at Exeter Hospital and the supportive team at Parkwood who provided dad with compassion and heartfelt care for the past 18 months. Dad was instrumental in the “Percy Project”, a mission to improve the food quality for veterans at Parkwood, in which he served faithfully until the last 2 weeks of his life. His creative passions for colour and printing were rekindled in the Veteran’s Arts program, where he made over 50 silk scarves for family and friends. Thanks to the Veteran’s Art Program Team. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life and reception will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Civic Garden Centre, 625 Springbank Drive, London. Inurnment in Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery, Montreal. Albert was like a second father to me and my dear deceased wife Lynn.
He lived a long and fruitful life and will always be remembered for his generous and loving spirit. Always the optimist, searching for a better way ahead and finally achieving that goal. My sincere condolences to his dear wife and partner Elaine, and to his loving family. Albert will never be forgotten and will live on in the memories of his extended family.
Sincerely, Don Dixon
I cherish every moment I spent with this dear, sweet man. We shared many laughs and a few little “songs” (that he was surprised I knew). My sincere sympathy to Elaine and all his family. Beth
We all send you our sympathy, Elaine. Albert became our friend while he shared a room with our Dad. We appreciated his patience with us when we so often “invaded” the space.
Wishing you comfort, the family of Len MacDonald (late May 2015)
Always enjoyed Albert’s company while getting his hair cut. His stories were often the same but that was okay, I still enjoyed hearing them again. LOL Barbers and bartenders should be good listeners!! Great gentleman with great sense of humour! Dave
My condolences to the family
