I’m so sorry for your loss, Emily. I remember well many afternoons spent playing in your dad’s backyard as a kid, hearing his jokes and stories backstage at concerts over many many years, and golfing with him a couple of times. He will be missed so dearly by my father Ian, who your dad was a great and long friend to.
Dave and I worked together with Orchestra London, he was awesome. So quiet and dignified, when times were tough.
He was an excellent musician.
He will be missed.
Our deep condolences to all of Dave’s family and friends. Dave was a true friend and colleague for many years. His consistently good natured manner and his fine musical abilities will be remembered. We could always rely on Dave to bring his best qualities to every task he undertook.
My deepest condolences to your family. I first met Dave when we played in the London Youth Symphony, and later, when we entered first year at the Faculty of Music, he introduced me to my best friend. Because he was studying with Ken Bray, Dave arranged for Bray to coach our little woodwind quintet for the first two years of university. Dave was an outstanding musician who will be sorely missed.
I was very upset to hear Dave had passed. I knew him from when I was first a student at Western , but became friends with him when were both working with the orchestra. While I had always thought him to be quiet and reserved when I got to know him I was struck by how kind, thoughtful and fun he was. I didn’t see him often after I left the orchestra, but whenever I did it was always great to catch up. He was a rare man. A man of genuine honour, dignity and caring as well as a fine musician. The world is a lesser place without him. I can only imagine what a terrible loss it is for all of you, who loved him best. My deepest condolences to you all.
This his very sad. He was only the second bassoon teacher I ever had. He will be missed, I miss him already. A great teacher and a wonderful player.
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I was so fortunate to have known him for many years. Our business relationship evolved into a friendship that I will always treasure. We had so many wonderful conversations while enjoying a cup of tea. He would always bring me up to date on how you were doing and was so proud of you. He was ecstatic when he found out he was going to be a grandfather !!
I hope your wonderful memories will comfort you and your family during this trying and difficult time.
Remembering Dave with a donation to the London Humane Society today. Such a dear, kind, thoughtful, and talented soul he was: he would absolutely “light up” at the mention of his children. Rest well, Dave.
