George Balango
Obituary
BALANGO, George….
Peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, October 8, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London Ontario Canada, George Frank Balango passed away in his 71st year.
While starting a new life in North America after fleeing war in Europe, George was born in Kansas City, Missouri USA to Joe and Gizella Balango. The family would eventually migrate to Canada, settle in, and call Southwestern Ontario, Chatham Kent home. George excelled in school and his intellect earned him numerous awards for his academic performance in numerous areas of study.
He played competitive hockey and baseball in Chatham and also enjoyed hunting and fishing in the area with his brother, Joe, and his brother-in-laws. He studied at University of Waterloo and graduated to become a member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
George was passionate about history, sports, and his Catholic faith. His legacy lives on within the City of London and other areas of Ontario where his career remained as a Land Use Planner for 45 years. Many buildings and developments will remind us of him, his hard work, and his pride.
George was loved by many, especially his children Renee (Paul), Jonathan (Lauren), Jana (Brendan), his sister Kathy (Henry), and his brother Joe (Darlene). Cherished by many cousins, nieces and nephews across Canada and Grampa to Anna, Marcus, Kate, Ella and Blaire. He was also a close friend of Katelyn and Richard. He will be dearly missed by all.
Husband of the late Anita Balango and son of the late Joseph and Gizella Balango. He will be remembered as someone with a gentle heart and who always enjoyed spending time with his family.
In George’s own words he has now “Gone Home”. Rest in sweet peace. We love you now and forever.
Thank you to the Staff on C7 at Victoria Hospital and everyone who cared for George during his treatment, as well as the Community of St Joseph’s Hospice for your kind and compassionate care.

My heart is filled with sorrow upon hearing the news about George’s passing. My most sincere condolences go out to family and friends who cherished George. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)
I don’t even have the words to express what this man means to me. Losing my father was the worst experience of my life, but it led to me reconnecting with my uncle and my cousins. George always had the best advice, and I will cherish our meals together for the rest of my life. Having someone around who knew my father growing up was special.
I will miss you uncle. I’m glad you aren’t in pain any longer. I’m sad we couldn’t see each other one more time, but it wasn’t meant to be.
What a great loss to the world. Daddy George will be missed by so many.
Kathy, Joe and family,
I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your brother and my cousin.
My condolences to you and all your families. He will be missed by all.
Our heartfelt love to Renee, Jon and Jana and families on the loss of your special Dad. He was one of the best.

RIP George, cousins are special. Even though we didn’t see each other often as life passed us by, those times when we did get together and childhood adventures are memories we will cherish forever. You will be missed deeply, especially by your close loved ones. We will keep you in our hearts. Deepest sympathies to your close loved ones. XOXO
Words cannot express how sorry I am Renee, Jonathan and Jana and families on the loss of your Dad and having to go through this sad and difficult time.
My deepest sympathies.
Our deepest sympathies to Renee, Jonathan, Jana and your families as you are dealing with the difficult loss of your dear father. We are thinking of you all and hope you find strength and comfort in knowing so many care.
The ones we love are never gone; they live within our hearts.
