Obituary
IGRAS, Julia…
Peacefully at Parkwood Institute Palliative Care Unit on March 29, 2023, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, Julia Igras of London Ontario passed away in her 87th year. Julia was a devoted wife and best friend to Hank Igras after 66 years of marriage. Loving mother to Diane (Kevin) Gowanlock and David (Maggie) Igras. Sister to Irene and Nancy Nicowski, and the late Helen (Peter) Gryniewski. She loved her many grandchildren, Andrew (Michelle), Melissa (Josh), Matthew (Rachael), Jennifer (Spencer), Jason (Sara), her 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by long time friend Vera Lasek and family.
Julia met the love of her life Hank dancing at the Polish Hall in Toronto. After working for Ingle Insurance in Toronto, she and Hank moved to London Ontario to start a business and raise a family. Julia and Hank ran a successful wholesale distribution business for 34 years. Julia later transitioned to working as an independent sales consultant for Canadian Scholarship Trust, where she consistently rated in the top 10 sales agents in the country. After many fulfilling years, Julia finally decided to retire from CST at the young age of 86.
Julia enjoyed her involvement in social clubs, the political arena, and treasured her many business friends and acquaintances.
A special thanks to all staff at the Parkwood Institute Stroke Floor and Palliative Care Unit for all their special care of Julia. Julia’s family would also like to thank Katie McLean for her spiritual support. At Julia’s request, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
