Donald “Don” Sliva
Obituary
SLIVA, Donald “Don”…
Don passed away quietly and peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Parkwood Institute, London, in his 81st year.
He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn (nee Leclair) Sliva (2011). Loving and cherished father of Sandra Macey (Don). Adored grandpa of Jarrett. Dear brother of Gerald (Cecilia), Barbara (Bruce), Margaret (Steve), Jim (Shannon) and John (Darlene). Don will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and extended family.
Don’s happiest moments included playing cards, Sunday dinners with his family, watching his beloved sports, and spending time with his siblings, especially enjoying the Sliva Brothers annual golf tournament. We marveled at his incredible memory, and he loved to share stories of his time growing up in the prairies.
Don moved to Dorchester 10 years ago after finally retiring, giving him the opportunity to spend his golden years with his family, meeting new friends and diligently attending each of Jarrett’s sporting events. Everyone at the arena and the ball diamond knew and loved Don. He was Jarrett’s biggest fan and always had a smile on his face.
We would like to sincerely thank his family members for making many trips to Dorchester in the last 2 ½ years. Those visits brought incredible joy to Don and he always made certain he was well stocked to share shots with his visitors.
We are also grateful to the incredible caregivers in the Palliative Unit at Parkwood Institute whose care and compassion brought great comfort to Don and his family.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a future date. In memory of Don, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Palliative Unit at Parkwood Institute. Arrangements entrusted with Cremation London & Middlesex, 519-858-2467. It’s been a privilege to have known him…he was a great guy, full of fun…and a great dad and grandpa. He will be missed by many. Dwell on the many memories you all made together. And know that he is completely healed now. Love and hugs for all of you. Bill and Lynda Westervelt
