Heidi Fischer
Obituary
FISCHER, Heidi…
October 22, 1937 – February 26, 2024
Heidi Fischer, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully in London, Ontario, on February 26, 2024, at the age of 86.
Born in Altdoebern, Germany on October 22, 1937, Heidi embarked on a journey of adventure and resilience. In her early twenties she set her sights on Hollywood, but destiny led her to Toronto/Mississauga where she built a beautiful life filled with love and purpose.
Heidi’s greatest joy was her family. She married Norman Fischer in May of 1962 and together they had two children, Norman Fischer Jr. and Barbara VanBunderen. She cherished them and their spouses Barbara Wallner and Mark VanBunderen dearly. She also adored her grandchildren, Liam, Sophia, Lexi and Jamie, who brought immeasurable joy into her life. Although far in distance, forever close to her heart were her siblings, Addi and Brigitte Barz, Sabina and Kurt Schlenther and Matthes Barz and Gabi Greinert.
An accomplished artist, Heidi’s creativity knew no bounds. Many of her pieces of work can be found on the walls of friends and family or in her beautiful handmade cards. Her culinary skills are still remembered by her children, and her passion for gardening brought beauty to those around her.
What defined Heidi most was her strong faith and boundless generosity. She touched countless lives and always showed genuine compassion for those who needed it the most. Her legacy of giving will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Heidi Fischer’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends in the cherished memories she created. Though she may have left this world, her spirit will forever live on in the presence of her precious Lord and Saviour Jesus.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. As per Heidi’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Heidi are asked to consider The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

What a sweet lady and a very accomplished artist. She will be missed , but happy to say, we will both see her again.
What a beautiful tribute to your Mother! Our love and prayers are with you and your family.
Barb, I am duplicating your words to me when my mom passed on …. “Your mom was such a good friend to my mom. They shared so much together over their very long friendship”. They are probably having a party as they often did.
I send you and your family strength and comfort during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Christine Grah (Ruth Grosskinsky)
Rest in peace! She was the best friend of my mother Antje and the cousin of my daddy Ekkehart. My parents met because of her friendship. Without Heidi me and my sisters and brother: Bettina, Gabriele, Wolfgang and Ulrike should not exist. Thank you, Tante Adelheid!
Bettina Aigner (Barz)
Norman, Barbara and family,
We wish to express our deepest condolences for the loss of your mother.
Thinking of you,
Darla, Coleman and Nicholas.
