Marvin Rhind
Obituary
RHIND, Marvin Roy…
London, ON / Dartmouth, NS
Marvin has sung his last tune!
It is with sadness that our family announce Marvin’s passing at the age of 67 in London, Ontario’s University Hospital on October 15th, 2021 following a brief illness.
Raised in Elderbank, Nova Scotia, he was the son of Roy Douglas Rhind and Ella Victoria (Dillman) Rhind.
A cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many.
Marvin was a talented musician, playing and singing in several bands from the time he was a teenager. His powerful baritone voice filled the bars and stages he played over the years as well as the church in Elderbank during his younger years where he sang in the choir making his mother so very proud. He was an entertainer, musically and as a storyteller laughing at his own jokes, a laugh that would shake windows. Marvin is especially remembered as a guy who would talk, and talk and talk some more.
In addition to the love he had for his son and grandsons, he loved guitars, country music, history, trivia, the Montreal Canadians, his beloved Cadillac, Gravenstein Apple Pie, coffee, cigarettes and red wine.
In 2019, Marvin retired from GM’s CAMI Automotive Assembly Plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.
Predeceased by his parents, Marvin is survived by son, Matthew (Melissa) and grandsons, Maddox and Langdon all of Cole Harbour, NS; brother Leonard of Elderbank, NS; sisters Freda (Peter) Higgins of Ottawa, ON and Mary Lou (John) Croft of Blockhouse, NS. He is also fondly remembered by nephews, Brenden Higgins, David Rhind and Greg Higgins and by Matthew’s mother, Cyndy Barclay-Hill.
To honour Marvin’s life and his wishes, please consider organ donation so that others may live on through your gift.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in NS. Arrangements entrusted with Cremation London & Middlesex, 519-858-2467. Online condolences shared at www.cremationlondon.com

My sincere condolences to Marvin’s family, especially to Matthew, on the day you were born, (we were all a lot closer then): your Dad called me on the phone, there was no caller ID nor was there ant such thing as social media.. ( not to make you feel old). I answered and this voice I didn’t recognize at first, said “izzaboy!” I asked, who is this? “It’s Marvin! It’s a boy, Heather!” The pride in his voice from that day, only grew.. never waivered. Cherish your memories., they will bring you comfort.
So sorry to hear this news…my condolences
Our thoughts and prayers to Marvin’s family.

So sorry (and shocked) to read of Marvin’s passing. As a fellow Musquodoboit Valley musician, Marvin and I shared early live music experiences. Forever the entertainer, Marvin was thrilled to be in front of an audience. My condolences to his family, friends and relatives.

On behalf of backdrafts bar and grill our deepest condolences on the passing of our friend Marvin .He will sadly be missed. Truly a gentleman . Fly high Marv ..and sing to those angels .
My sympathy to the Rhind family and friends of Marvin. Over the years after leaving Musquodoboit I would often be asked about my last name. I’d say Ryan from Middle Musquodoboit. Oh are you related to Marvin? No he is a Rhind and I’m Ryan. I feel as though I lost a friend I never had. My condolences.
My most heartfelt condolences to all of Marvins family. I knew him from Backdrafts and enjoyed beers and stories with him. I moved from London in January when Covid numbers were high so didn’t get to see people before I left but lo and behold I met Marvin at the convenience store just a few days before I left. We had a yarn and he was happy for me and my move back home. Did not realize it would be the last time I would see him. Very thankful for that encounter! RIP Marvin!
Sending condolences to the Rhind family. I worked with him at Forbes.
