Salvatore “Sal” Porretta
Obituary
PORRETTA, Sal…
The family of Salvatore Porretta announce his passing on Friday, February 25, 2022 in London at the age of 65. In respect of Sal’s wishes, few people knew of his critical diagnosis rendered only a few weeks ago. Beloved husband of Lois Stouffer. Dear step-father of Christine, Robert and Michael Gee and their families.
The family would like to thank the committed caregivers, extending their love and presence over the past few weeks. Sal was under the tremendously appreciated care of Dr. Huynh, Dr. Ernst and Dr. Lock at LHSC and Dr. Kane at Parkwood Institute. Sal’s family cannot thank them and their staff enough.
In respect of Sal’s wishes there is no service, his immediate family will remember him and his many kindnesses continually throughout our lives. Many folks in Toronto will remember Sal from his 24 years or so at the former Porretta’s Restaurant on Harbord Street, Toronto. Sal and Lois relocated from Toronto to Port Franks in 1999 and are known in the music world as co-founders and co-innovators of Concert Design Inc until 2018 when illness caused retirement. Concert Design has subsequently carried on under new ownership, which is a joy to both Sal and Lois. Sal and Lois lived in London since 2020.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to UrbanPromise Toronto, 502 – 685 Sheppard Avenue East, North York, ON M2K 1B6. Cremation London & Middlesex entrusted with arrangements 519-858-2467. Online condolence shared at www.cremationlondon.com
I remember Sal. In the late 1970’s I was a regular customer of Porretta’s on Harbord St. Sal was cool, way cooler than me. Condolences.

Dear Lois. To you and your family our heartfelt condolences. As we read about Porretta we wish we had met Sal there, many years ago. Thank you for your friendship in the Port. Klaus ans Ingrid
Mike, we wish you peace during this difficult time. Please know many of us are thinking of you and your family. Sending care and condolence from your work family.
Sal was a friend, a mentor — and a boss. There is no question of his positive impact on the world, music (besides being a concert-equipment designer, he was a gifted composer), and those he loved.
